It's the question we get on almost every install quote, so here's the straight answer: both are outstanding, and anyone who tells you one is clearly better is usually selling whichever one they've got in the warehouse.

Where we split them: Daikin has the deepest parts and service network in WA and the strongest ducted range, so it's our usual lean for whole-home systems and living areas (Cora). Mitsubishi Electric wall splits are among the quietest you can buy — 18dB on the AP, 19dB on the LN — so they're our usual lean for bedrooms. What's the best aircon brand in Perth?

For most Perth homes it comes down to Daikin or Mitsubishi Electric at the premium end — both have excellent WA parts availability, strong warranty support and a proven record in Perth heat. Midea is the smart-value pick, and its warranties (10 years on Athena splits, 7 on ducted, with online registration) are actually the longest going. The honest answer: the best brand is the one sized and installed properly for your home.

MHI is a different company to Mitsubishi Electric — and Australia's most independently awarded aircon brand. We install MHI as our mid-range tier — the new Ciara series for wall splits and the FDU series for ducted. The Ciara brings Japanese-brand engineering, built-in Wi-Fi and voice control, backlit remote, in seven sizes from a rare 1.5kW up to 7.1kW, and it sits neatly between the premium picks and the Midea Athena on budget.

Is Midea a good aircon brand in Australia?

Yes — with the right expectations. Midea is the world's largest inverter air-conditioner manufacturer and builds units for badges you'd recognise. You give up a little refinement versus the Japanese brands, but the Athena carries a 10-year warranty with online registration (double the premium brands) and we back every Midea install with our own workmanship guarantee.

What's the difference between the MSZ-EF, MSZ-LN and a normal split?

Performance-wise they're all excellent — the EF and LN are Mitsubishi Electric's designer range and the Zena is Daikin's, so you're choosing on looks and extras. The EF is a slim flat panel in white, silver or black. The LN is the flagship: richer finishes (including ruby red), a 3D i-See sensor that aims airflow at or away from people, and Plasma Quad Plus filtration as standard. If the unit is going somewhere you've spent real money on, they're worth it.
